Beach scene in Koh Samui

Beach scene in Koh Samui

February 19, 2013 by Carol Perehudoff

There is such a great beach scene in Koh Samui, Thailand. Here's why I love it.

Hey, look! It’s me on the beach in Chaweng -that amazing stretch of soft-as-ash sand on the southern Thai island of Koh Samui. There is such a great beach scene in Koh Samui, Thailand.

Nice, er, bathing suit!

Ok, I lied. That is totally not me. This is me …

Ok, I lied again. Wait – isn’t she married to Ice-T?

No, here I am. I prefer to go into the water totally dressed. And if I do put on a bikini …

I’m hot! Where’s an ice cube?

I like to wrap up in a blanket as well. But that’s how we roll at the herbal steam baths here in Koh Samui.

But keeping with the fully-dressed theme, I’d like to add that some of us, like my friend Mindy Terry, who also happens to be on the island, prefers a casual short-shorts-and-no-helmet look when motorbiking. (And I probably would too if I had her legs.) I, however, have opted for the keep-every-inch-of-me-covered-and-where’s-the-body-armour-while-we’re-at-it style.

Because glamour, when it comes to island life, is what it’s all about.

*For more high fashion tips for the beach, check out my … no, on second thought, it’s probably best to go somewhere else.

However, for more info on the beach scene in Koh Samui, read on.

Koh Samui Beaches

Chaweng Beach

The top three photos in this Koh Samui beach scene blog post are of Chaweng. Koh Samui’s most developed beach, it’s almost impossible to fault wide swath of soft sand that stretches 5 km. Chaweng Beach is a great favourite of those craving vibrant nightlife, tons of restaurants and a lively scene. Others (like me) might find it too built up.

Lamai Beach

I tend to spend more time on Lamai Beach, which is still a great stretch of sand but not quite as developed as Chaweng (almost but not quite).

Bophut Beach and Big Buddha (Bang Rak Beach)

Quieter still are Bophut and Big Buddha. There is a traditional fishing village at Bohphut and a giant Buddha statue at Big Buddha.

Where do the beautiful people in Koh Samui go?

If you like a resort with a party around the pool, you might want to check out Nikki Beach Resort Koh Samui.

I almost mistook you for the Coco lookalike in the red thong but the notebook pointed me in the right direction. Fun!

Too funny, babe! Missing you and Samui xoxo
