From stable to spa. It used to be where Prince Roland Bonaparte, the grand-nephew of Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte, kept his horses. Now, it’s a gorgeous new spa in Shangri-La Hotel, Paris, and looks good enough for an emperor.

Spa here? Yes!

Located in the 16th arrondissement, the Shangri-La, Paris, is a landmark building with views of the Seine and the Eiffel Tower, and the Shangri-La Paris Spa wellness retreat includes fitness facilities, a pool with an outdoor terrace and a CARITA beauty treatment centre.

The flower connection

I bet you didn’t know that Prince Bonaparte had a passion for botany and that his herbarium was one of the most extensive in the world. I didn’t know that either until I read the press release about the Shangri-La Paris Spa opening, but now I know he authored an illustrated plant encyclopaedia and in homage, the decor of the new facility has flora-and-water inspired motifs.

Floral history at the spa

Sounds divine, non? A Parisian wellness centre with a touch of history, a hint of botany and some gorgeous trompe l’oeil. No doubt Josephine would have loved it.
