It’s 10:30 a.m. and I’ve been up since the obscene hour of 5 a.m. That’s just painful, but we had to shoot our video at Stillwater Spa at 7 a.m. so we that didn’t disturb the guests’ spa tranquility once the spa opened. Yes, I’ve teamed up with Julia Pelish again from Vacay.ca to make a spa video.
Working with Julia is just too much fun, mainly because she does all the film work, while I sit around in the lounge at Stillwater Spa at the Park Hyatt Toronto, lie around on a spa bed in a treatment room or float around in the whirlpool.
The team at the Toronto Park Hyatt is surprisingly (disgustingly) perky first thing in the morning. I love Kiesha, the Park Hyatt Toronto’s PR go to woman, because she kept me supplied with caffeine, and Christa, the Spa Director at Stillwater, because she agreed to speak on our video without warning. Oh, and because she gave me a snack. Obviously, tea and snacks are an important part of maintaining good relations with journalists.
I still (water) really hate getting up early though.
However it was worth it to revisit the lovely Stillwater Spa, one of Toronto’s best spas – and certainly one of the longest running when it comes to luxury hotel spas in Toronto. Located right in Yorkville and just across from the Royal Ontario Museum (and by the way, I don’t care what people say, I like the ROM Crystal) …
Stillwater Spa is a Toronto classic, and I’d forgotten how peaceful it is. Lots of fountainy things, and pseudo streams to step over, a great whirlpool in the change rooms and a recently updated pedi/mani area and tea lounge.
Then there are the Stillwater therapists. I didn’t do a treatment this time (waaa!) but I still (water) remember Lu Anne (did I spell her name right?) who gave me the most amazing facial a year and a half ago. I love therapists who make me feel safe – and who also make me look better.
Anyway, the video should come out in May, and all I can say is I hope I don’t look too sleepy on film.
