What is it with Shangri-La Hotel Toronto and fashion? First my recent weekend there gets me completely obsessed with designer shoes and then a slim few days later I’m back to celebrate their one-year anniversary (Happy Birthday, Shangri-La!) where they unveiled new uniforms for the wait staff. Sorry, I mean, they unveiled a “new wardrobe for service associates in the Lobby Lounge.”
Of course, being Shangri-La Toronto they did it with style, partnering with VAWK designer Sunny Fong to come up with something spectacular.
The reason I say spectacular is because the new look is inspired by Asian art, and if you check out my Shangri-La Toronto article at Vacay.ca, you will realize I’m as obsessed with the art at Shangri-La Toronto as I am with designer shoes.
Fong says of the new glam look for Shangri-La, “I was inspired by the art work in the lobby, the Ming vase tea library and the ornithological theme that is prevalent in the hotel and the Zhang Huan ‘Rising’ sculpture.”
“The silhouette had to be both sophisticated and sexy. I felt my desire to custom create a bold graphic print inspired by the Ming vase would absolutely make a dramatic statement.”
Well it does. And now not only do I want Christian Louboutins to wear with my wedding dress, I want a Ming Vase. And I think someone should design me a new wardrobe, too.
