Coming from a family of artists, how can I not be interested art and travel? And, as one of the few people in the world with an MVA – Masters in Visual Art – I’m practically an expert. And if you’re wondering why so few people have an MVA, that’s because every other school in its right mind (if schools had minds) offer an MFA – Masters in Fine Art. Even my school, the University of Alberta, finally changed the name of their degree to MFA. But I’m proud to be unique.

Hi Carol, love reading your blog and also the articles in the Toronto Star. As my two passions are art and travel, somehow reading your blog has ignited that flame to try to combine the two.
Are you able to give advice on this, or do you give workshops on travel writing? I am also in Toronto.
thanks so much for inspiring me,

Hi Nina,
Thanks for your kind comment. That’s the great thing about travel – you can combine it with any passion or hobby to make the whole experience even richer. For travel writing tips, you might find the ‘newbie’ section at http://www.travelwriters.com helpful and if I decide to do any workshops, I’ll definitely post it on this blog!
